Education technology(EduTech/Edtech): Technology integration into traditional teaching methods is referred to as “education technology” (EduTech/Edtech).

Education technology, also referred to as “edutech,” is the practice of using information and communication technology tools in the classroom to offer more interactive, inclusive, and individualised learning experiences.

In today’s classrooms, which have advanced past the bulky desktop PCs that were once the norm, tablets, interactive online courses, and even robots that can take notes and record lectures for absent students are already commonplace.

What is EDUTECH/EDTECH?

The use of hardware and software to enhance teaching and learning is referred to as “edtech,” which is an acronym for education technology.

The introduction of edtech tools has caused several changes in classrooms. Examples of edtech technologies that keep students motivated in their studies include robots, virtual reality lectures, and gamified classroom activities. The ability of edtech IoT devices to give students access to virtual classrooms, whether they are in a real classroom, on a bus, or at home, is also lauded. Even blockchain and machine learning technologies are assisting teachers in grading tests and maintaining student accountability for their assignments.

The potential for scalable, individualised learning has played a significant role in the development of the edtech industry. No two people study, interact with teachers and classmates, or generally feel about the same subjects in the same way. Each person learns at their own pace and in their own way. Edtech solutions make it easier for teachers to create individualised lesson plans and learning experiences that encourage inclusion and enhance learning abilities across the board, regardless of a student’s age or learning ability.

And it appears that technology will continue to be used in classrooms. In a 2018 poll, 86% of eighth-grade teachers said that using technology to educate children was essential. However, 75% of the study’s teachers claimed that employing technology aided students’ academic success. Many would argue that it is essential to understand the benefits that edtech offers in the form of enhanced communication, teamwork, and educational quality overall.

How does Edutech/Edtech help students and teachers?

Benefits of EdTech for Students

Technology is expanding learning opportunities for students of all ages and encouraging diversity and cooperation in the classroom. These are five significant ways that edtech is already changing how kids learn.

Increased Collaboration

Tablets and cloud-enabled programmes are promoting classroom collaboration. By employing tablets that are filled with educational games and online lessons, teachers may provide kids with the tools they need to work together on difficulties. However, cloud-based programmes enable students to turn in their papers and remotely exchange thoughts and any help they might want.

24/7 access to learning

Thanks to IoT devices, students are finding it easier to have full access to the classroom in a virtual environment. Students can now complete assignments at their own pace and on their own schedules without being restricted by the requirement that they be present in a physical classroom because they have access to Wi-Fi and the cloud via connected devices, whether they are at school, on the bus, or at home.

Other tools help teachers and students stay in touch in the event of questions or when students need to alert teachers to an emergency.

“Flipping” the Classroom

Edtech devices are upending traditional notions of classrooms and education. In many cases, students read or listen to lectures in class before finishing homework and other projects at home. Students may now study for classes at home at their own speed, utilising learning programmes and video lectures, and using class time for collaborative group projects. Children are encouraged to learn independently, be creative, and collaborate in this type of learning environment.

Personalised Educational Experiences

With the help of edtech, teachers may design individualised lesson plans for each of their pupils. This approach allows for the customization of learning to a student’s interests, skills, and abilities.

Video content tools allow students to learn at their own pace and make sure they comprehend the subject being delivered because they may pause and rewind lectures. Analytics enable teachers to see which students struggle in particular subjects and offer additional support.

As a substitute for anxiety-provoking testing, teachers are increasingly using software to accurately determine general aptitude.

Attention-Grabbing Lessons

Do you recall ever being in class and just giving a portion of your attention? It’s crucial to develop lesson plans that are both exciting and educational, given the abundance of technologies and other influences vying for students’ attention. Technology, in the opinion of proponents of edtech, is the answer. Videoconferencing with classrooms around the world, submitting homework as podcasts or videos, and even gamifying problem-solving are some of the most inventive ways that students are utilising technology to boost classroom engagement.

Benefits of education

  • Personalised education accommodates various learning preferences.
  • The emphasis of class time may be on cooperation thanks to on-demand video lectures.
  • Gamified teachings genuinely interest pupils.
  • Students may work from anywhere using cloud computing and have access to it around the clock.
  • Tools for managing the classroom and automating grading assist instructors in juggling their duties.

Benefits of EdTech for Teachers

Edtech benefits more than just students; it also benefits other organisations. Teachers view educational technology as a tool to develop efficient teaching strategies and shorten class periods. These are the four ways that educational technology is helping teachers go back to what they do best: teaching.

Automated Grading

Grading is made simple by edtech tools and artificial intelligence. These programmes use machine learning to analyse and grade replies in line with the assignment’s specifications. Using these technologies, especially for objective assignments like true/false or fill-in-the-blank quizzes, might free up the time that teachers frequently spend evaluating assignments. Less preparation is required, and there is more time for one-on-one interaction with both gifted and difficult students when teachers have more free time.

Classroom management tools

Let’s face it: getting a large group of kids to accomplish anything may be challenging. Everything, from teacher-student interactions to student behaviour, may be made simpler with the application of educational technology.  The use of management tools in the classroom creates a more cooperative and less disorganised environment.

Paperless Classrooms

Budget printing, paper waste, and many hours spent at the copier are stuff of the past, thanks to edtech. Being digital makes grading assignments easier, eliminates the need to keep hundreds of files of homework, and promotes greener classroom practices.

Eliminating Guesswork

Teachers spend a lot of time attempting to assess the skills or areas where their students need to improve. EdTech may change all of it. Today, a variety of technologies, data platforms, and applications are available that continually assess children’s skills and needs and share that information with
